Grant Opportunities

SGPN can assist in identifying funding opportunities available to general practice. Funding is most commonly offered through the Federal Government, but can also be available through State Government and private trust funds.

Most grants are open for application for a limited period of time and occur annually. Therefore it is important to understand the aims and timing of the funding program and have your information ready to go.

SGPN provides the following submission writing assistance free of charge to the region's general practices:

  • Initial visit to discuss process and selection criteria
  • Provision of data such as population demographics
  • Letter of support
  • Review submission prior to sending

Alternatively, SGPN Business Solutions can contract a submission writer to prepare the entire funding proposal.

On this pages there are links to some existing funding programs, however, the best option is to contact us and outline your needs and we will endeavour to identify potential sources of funds.

After Hours Funding

The Federal Government’s General Practice After Hours program offers grants of up to $100,000 over two years to assist with the operating costs or recurrent expenses of after-hours services. The next round of funding is anticipated to open July 2010.

Contact us and we can help you with your application.

Infrastructure Funding

Funds from the Federal Government’s National Rural and Remote Health Infrastructure Program can be used for capital works (such as new buildings or refurbishments) or medical equipment. Please contact us if you require assistance with your application.

Workforce Incentives

The Federal Government offers relocation grants and other incentives based on remoteness area classifications.

The Rural Doctors Network (RDN) offers relocation subsidies, CPD vouchers and various training grants.
