SGPN Business Solutions provides a range of practice management activities on a fee-for-service basis. Established in 2009, the company offers an all-of-practice management service, as well as staff brokerage, recruitment and submission writing services. These activities are in addition to the free services provided to the region’s general practices by SGPN’s Practice Support team.
The company's operations are overseen by a committee that consists of general practitioners, practice managers and senior SGPN staff.
Any profits are returned to the community through the provision of preventative health programs.

General practice management services
SGPN Business Solutions can manage the everyday operational aspects of a General Practice focussing on sound economic, staff and patient management. SGPN would promote interdisciplinary care involving a range of health professionals working together in the same organisation providing a range of appropriate care to patients. This model supports a true walk-in-walk-out facility for general practitioners. SGPN Business Solutions currently manages and operates the Tuross Head Surgery, a new general practice on the NSW South Coast.
Staff brokerage
Business Solutions can recruit and employ specific staff to work in a general practice. This service is provided on a cost recovery basis and includes a management fee.
Recruitment
SGPN will prepare practice staff job descriptions free of charge.
Business Solutions offers the following recruitment services on a fee-for service basis:
- Advertising of position
- Short listing of applicants
- Preparation for interview
- Conduct interviews
- Post interview process including hiring
Funding submission writing
SGPN provides submission writing assistance to the region’s general practices applying for government funding to improve health outcomes to their communities. Requests for assistance will be assessed on a needs basis by SGPN's Business Services Advisory Group.
The following services are provided free of charge:
- Initial visit to discuss process and selection criteria
- Provision of data such as population demographics
- Letter of support
- Review submission prior to sending
SGPN Business Solutions can contract a submission writer to prepare the funding proposal, including meeting with stakeholders. Contractors currently charge around $75-120 per hour and as an example, a submission to the NHRRIP would take around 35 hours to finalise.
